Welcome to the LaCasa Bocce Club, a growing organization within the LaCasa Community. Over 180 members strong, we are an active, fun loving club that plays Bocce just for the fun of it during our daily games, and if you choose, for the skill of it during Myakka River League bocce competitions with 5 other parks in our area. We play Monday through Thursday afternoons and Monday and Thursday mornings. Teams on Monday and Thursday are chosen randomly so new and old members play together. Its a great way to get to meet lots of really great people in the park. Our Tuesday and Wednesday games are open to all park residents, members and non members alike. You pick who you play with or just fill in where theres an opening.
If you haven’t played Bocce in the past, give it a try! The park recently reconstructed the six bocce courts and they are a pleasure to play on. Bocce is a low impact exercise that is fun to play. Bring your friends and family and try it out. But be aware that the clay court surface can be damaged. Roll or gently loft your balls to minimize divots. Try not to pivot your heal or toe when out in the court retrieving balls, especially if your shoes have a nubby pattern on the sole. Finally return balls to the ball racks when your game is over. Courts may be temporarily closed whenever recent heavy rains make the courts too soft to play on. Usually they will be back in play 24 to 48 hours after the rain stops.
