As full time residents of La Casa, Benny and I find that April is a month of mixed feelings. In this year of limited social activities due to Covid restrictions, April has been fairly social– there have been determined efforts for friends to gather in small groups for re-connecting and saying “farewell” for the summer season. As we watch friends prepare to leave, we think of the many friends we watched leave last year who did not get to return for this winter season. We hope and pray EVERYONE can return in the Fall and Winter! I’m pretty sure I speak for all full-timers when I say, “’we miss you” when you are not here!
This year we lost many friends for whom we have not been able to have the traditional Memorials. As we continued to see emails about these friends, we are so glad to have known them, but are saddened by their loss. We hope we will be able to gather at some point next year to commemorate these friends.
On a lighter note, our LCRE has been exceedingly busy in the last 12 months—our Welcome Lady has visited approximately 40 new resident households! This is amazing given the Covid atmosphere! As of this writing on the last day of April, we have only TWO homes on the market! We can expect to extend a hardy “Welcome” in the coming months to lots of new people who have seen the beauty and value in the type of community that La Casa embodies!
The Activities Board has been organizing and making plans for a busy season beginning in September. We join all of you in hopes that these plans can and will be realized, and we hope that some of you would choose to join us by applying to fill the two vacancies for full-time residents we have on our Board. Contact me if you are interested! We wish each of you a happy, healthy summer wherever you may be, and we look forward to your returning “home” to La Casa!
