A Message to All La Casa Residents September 6 2017

September 6, 2017 by La Casa Webmaster

La Casa Friends and Neighbors:

It’s Wednesday, September 6, at almost 11:30 am, and it is eerily quiet in the La Casa community this morning.

Many of our residents have left for safer lodging to ride out the coming storm.

I am writing to let you know our plans for communicating with residents over the next few days.

By we I mean the HOA Board, Park Management, the Disaster Preparation Task Force, and the Website Committee.

It will be difficult to get accurate information during the storm, and if we are not sure what is happening we will remain silent.

Probably your best source is the TV network news which you normally use.

We distributed a notice yesterday, prepared by the La Casa Disaster Preparedness Task Force, titled

“HURRICANES — The Next 72 Hours Are Up To You”

The notice includes the contact number 941-861-5000 for Sarasota County Information.

As La Casa specific information is obtained, we will share it with you in the following manner.

— We will first post it on Lacasaroc.com

— We will then share it on Facebook

— We will also send it as an email blast to our list

You may see the same message more than once but during this short period of time; we think it is best to follow this process.

Finally, Jill Palmer from our Board of Directors asked me to remind everyone —

“Just a reminder to put away lawn decorations or anything outside that could become a flying weapon during the storm. If you already left, call a neighbor and ask them to place items in your shed. It is hard as we do not know where this storm is exactly heading but we need to be prepared.

Stay safe and say a prayer,

Tom Bohan

Florida Governor Rick Scott was recently on Local Television reporting on the state’s preparations for the storm and suggestions for all Florida Residents

Gov Scott recommends that Floridians can check this website

http://www.floridadisaster.org

For storm related information, he emphasized that the site lists

Evacuation Routes and Evacuation Zones

and that each citizen should be aware of the proper zone and route as it relates to them personally.
