Feb 4 2015 coffee hour  The Coffee Hour on Wednesday, February 4th, will feature a great presentation by the La Casa FireWise Committee.  Please sign up in the Rec Hall if you are attending.

The FireWise coffee hours are always very popular.  Last year we had nearly 300 people present when the Sarasota County Fire and Rescue brought a helicopter and did a mock water-drop using water out of one of our lakes.  Don’t miss this informative and fun event. Our FireWise Committee works hard on your benefit, and all members should be congratulated for their dedication and hard work!!

January 21, 2015 Coffee Hour

Jan 21 coffee hour The January 21st Coffee Hour will have a representative of Nation’s Bank speak to us.  They have a local branch at the corner of Sumter and Tamiami next to Walgreens just east of La Casa.  Please sign up on the bulletin board if you are attending so we know how  many doughouts to order.  Thank you.

2015 La Casa Health Fair

health fair slider The 2015 La Casa Health Fair will take place on Friday, January 23rd, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Rec Hall.  There will be approximately 54 tables with information for you regarding doctors, hospitals, visual, hearing, medical supplies, organ donors, cremation, health care and many more agencies.

Last year many residents received vital information about their health and were given a chance to see what is available to them.  Each agency brings a door prize to be given away to our lucky residents.

Also, OneBlood’s Big Red Bus will be accepting blood donations in the parking lot.

Gail Fryer heads the lunch room staff and Sloppy Joe sandwiches will be served again for only $3.00.  Where can you get such a bargain but here at La Casa!  The health fair committee consists of Mary Borst, Charlene Curtis, Gail Fyer, Judi Lees, Anna Martin, Gail Paschal, Terry Quink and Marilee Taylor.

La Casa ALL-STAR Show! – January 14, 2015

palermo slider  Our first ALL-STAR SHOW of the Season will be Wednesday, January 14th beginning at 7:00 pm in the Rec Hall.  We will be featuring Bobby Palermo who has been entertaining people for over thirty years.

This is a man of many talents who puts on a great show filled with laughs, impersonations and music.  He plays several instruments and has composed many Billboard Magazine award winning songs that he includes in his shows.

Tickets (festival seating) will go on sale before the January 7th Coffee Hour at 8:00 a.m., and continue up to the night of the event.  DON’T miss one of La Casa’s excellent All-Star Show presentations.

2015 Cable TV & Act. Assoc. Renewals

TV and Act Card renewals On January 5th Cable TV and Activity Card renewals for 2015 will begin.  The cost for Cable TV renewal is $325.00, and Activity Cards remain at $7.00 for a full year of fun!

Cable TV collections will be:  Monday, January 5th; Thursday, January 8th; Monday, January 12th; and Thursday, January 15th – all from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

Activity Cards will be sold at the following dates and times:

All Cable TV payment dates

All January Coffee Hours from 8 – 9 a.m. (1/7, 1/14, 1/21, 1/28)

Bingo from 6 – 7 p.m. (1/8 & 1/15)

La Casa EXPO from 11 -2 p.m. (1/17)

Remember, you must purchase an activity card for admittance to all events sponsored or sanctioned by the Activity Association during 2015.  Thank you for your support and cooperation.

2015 La Casa EXPO Coming Soon!

EXPO 2015 January 17th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. is the 2015 La Casa Activity Association EXPO.  If you have never attended our annual EXPO, this is the chance for you to see all the activities that are available to you in La Casa.

Each club or organization will have representatives there to let you know what they provide to residents – crafts, bowling, ceramics, genealogy, computers, painting, bird & nature, sports, talent, quilting, games – you name it, and La Casa has it!

Please come and browse the booths we will have set up for you.  Also, we will be selling a $3.00 hot dog luncheon for our guests.  Put the date on your calendar – this is a MUST-DO  event for our residents!!!

 

 

2014 Christmas Drive-Thru a BIG Success!

Drive Thru thank you slider The 2014 Christmas Decoration Drive-thru was a BIG success this year.  Over 275 cars and vans visited La Casa on Monday and Tuesday, December 15th & 16th.  We outdid ourselves as all the visitors were very impressed by La Casa’s lights and impressed to see what La Casa is all about!

Special thanks to our security guard team of Kelly and Will, Mr. & Mrs. Claus (very good friends of Jackie Loftus and Izak Kolodny), and the many residents who helped patrol the park and guide our visitors in their golf carts.  A wonderful Holiday Season to all La Casa residents!

Christmas Day 2014 Pot Luck Dinner

Christmas Pot Luck slider There will be a Christmas Pot Luck on Christmas Day beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the Rec Hall.  Please bring a dish to share that serves at least 8 people, or bring a couple of extra dishes if you are bring family or friends – we don’t want to run out of food!  Bring your own table service including glass/cup, utensils and dessert plate.  Coffee will be furnished or BYOB.

Please limit filling take-home containers until after everyone has been served.  If you can’t fix a dish you may donate money to the committee (contact Mary Borst or Gail Fryer) and we will purchase extra food.  Plan on staying after to visit, socialize, play cards or games.  See you there!
