What a wonderful sight on July 4th when 220 of our friends and neighbors gathered in the Rec Hall. A patriotic golf cart parade, our traditional hotdog lunch, and lots of folks playing Bingo rounded out the celebration! Thank you to all the volunteers who helped in all aspects of this celebration—it takes a village to run an event—and we live in the very BEST village!
In the June Board meeting, we appointed another new Director. After several months of requests for resumes from full-time residents failed to provide a response, we were happy to receive one from Lynn Uffleman, a part-time resident. Lynn, and wife Janet, are known by many of us as active volunteers. Our by-laws allowed us to appoint him to a position normally held by a full-time resident. Welcome to the Board, Lynn! All spots on the Board have been filled.
Mark your calendars for August 7th – our first DANCE! Black Velvet will provide dance music from 6:30 to 9:30. Tickets will be $5.00 at the door (no advanced sales), and we’ll have a 50/50 drawing. I sure hope line-dancers can still remember the steps, and that we’re all in good enough physical shape to dance after such a long hiatus!
Our last summer event will be our annual Labor Day celebration. We’ll have delicious pulled pork sandwiches and sides for lunch. Advance tickets will be sold for $5.00 before Bingo (August 12th thru September 2nd ). Following lunch we will enjoy Wally’s horse races! Bring your bag of quarters so you can join the fun.
Keep your eyes on the website, channel 195, and the newsletter to stay informed about all the activities available for your enjoyment! We have so many new neighbors who have moved in during the pandemic—there are probably new neighbors on every street–let’s all welcome them and help them get familiar with life in La Casa!
