Your County taxes pay for garbage and trash pickup by Waste Management. They will pick up almost anything, if it is properly prepared. The pickup day in La Casa is Friday. Trash collection starts at 6 a.m., and trucks pick up trash, recycles and yard waste.
La Casa HOA rules state that all trash and recycles can be placed at the curb on Thursday evenings, but not before. Trash and yard waste must be bagged, in cans or bundled, not weighing more than 40 pounds or being more than four feet in length.
Appliances and furniture, including mattresses and box springs, will be picked up if you call Waste Management at 941-493-4100 in advance. This includes televisions and electronics, WM will give you a date for pickup of these items. There is no charge for this service. Do NOT call North Port City, as they do not service La Casa, and they can charge you for pickup services you arrange with them.
The La Casa community dumpster in our Maintenance Yard costs La Casa homeowners a great deal of money each year, and the costs will continue to rise if residents use that dumpster instead of curbside trash pickup. The dumpster is primarily for maintenance-generated trash, not our residents. It is not a resident’s “right” to use that dumpster simply because it is there. Also, never allow a contractor to use La Casa’s dumpster for trash, because you are charging all residents for your contractor not taking care of their own trash.
In addition to the volume of trash in the maintenance dumpster, residents are also overfilling it, and even dumping trash on the ground when the dumpster is full. If the dumpster is blocked by trash, the driver cannot and will not pick up and empty the dumpster. If our maintenance personnel are forced to move trash from the dumpster area, that is an additional cost to our residents, since our maintenance personnel are doing something you are all paying for, and is not part of their job.
