July already? Is it just me, or is time really flying? It seems as if Memorial Day was just yesterday — OH, it was — and I’m writing the July newsletter article! (hmm, people wonder why I get my days and weeks mixed up)!!!
Memorial Day turned out to be a lovely day of remembrance with the Veteran’s ceremony. The three Food trucks brought delicious meals and many residents brought their lunches from home. The day was beautifully sunny and very hot, so we were all glad to eat in the cool Rec Hall. We had live music by Larry and Frank and a rousing good time with the La Casa “500”! We are so grateful to the 200+ residents and guests who attended and to all the volunteers who made this a wonderful day. The predicted thunder storms held off till late in the afternoon which is typical now. These storms sure make the grass and weeds grow…yes, like weeds!
We will be celebrating July 4th with our traditional hot dog lunch including chips, cookies and beverages followed by Bingo. We are trying very hard to keep costs down while still providing wonderful activities like this. We’re all aware of the rising costs in the stores, so you know how difficult a job this is for us.
July will be filled with all the usual activities:
Indoor Corn Hole in the Club House on Tuesday afternoons
Bingo every Thursday evening,
Food Trucks on Tuesday July 5th and on Mondays the 11th, 18th and 25th.
There are lots of card games each week.
And a Dance on Saturday the 13th — $5.00 tickets sold at the door for open seating (we will be checking Activity Cards that night—please bring them!)
Hope you’re all well and are having a wonderful summer wherever you are. If you are traveling, I wish you safe travels.
