This has been a great Florida Summer here in La Casa—several days nearing 100 degrees and many afternoons with over an inch of rain, incredibly loud thunder and frightening lightning, but we have still been social and active! We have continued to have dances, Bunco, Bingo, card games, sports activities, not to mention relaxing by the pools and at the beaches!
Now that September is here, we will be celebrating Labor Day in a big way! On Monday, September 5 we have Food Trucks serving lunch from 11-2:00! They will be BROWN’S FOOD FACTORY with their fabulous sandwiches, burgers and hot dogs, 3 SONS BAR-B-QUE with ribs, brisket and bbq sandwiches. For dessert we have Q ICE CREAM with everyone’s favorite summertime dessert! If none of these suit your holiday fancy, you are encouraged to bring your own lunch. We will provide soft drinks, water and beer. These three trucks were such a big hit at Memorial Day that we invited them back! We’ll bring our food into the Rec Hall and will be entertained with live music by Ember Cuevas, a young local violinist. Be aware that Wally’s pony races will begin at 1:00—so bring your bag of quarters! There will also be a gift basket raffle with proceeds going to our Ukraine Fund.
On September 17 at 6:30 we’ll have a dance with music by the amazing Bridget Phillips. The cost is $5.00 at the door—please be prepared to show your Activity Cards. There will be open seating, but you may reserve your spots beginning at 4:30.
