Disposal of Motor Oil, Oil Filters, and Tires

Used motor oil and oil filters from your RV and/or boat may be placed at the curb at your home for pickup on our regular weekly collection services. Please do not deposit them in the waste barrel in the compound. Used motor oil should be placed in see-through plastic beverage containers (one gallon or less) with a screw-top cap. Empty oil containers may be placed in the garbage.  Mark all containers with the words “used oil”. Place used oil next to garbage containers on our regular pickup day. There is a limit of five (5) gallons per week. Used oil filters should be placed in a sealed clear plastic bag. Place oil filters next to garbage containers on our regular pickup day. There is a limit five (5) oil filters per week. Used tires must be 25” or less in diameter, maybe on or off the rim. There is a limit of four (4) automotive tires per week. Tires may also be disposed at the Central County Solid Waste Disposal Complex (standard disposal fees apply) at 4000 Knights Trail Road, Nokomis. If your tires are not collected by 8 p.m. on our collection day, please contact Waste Management (941-861-5000) or at scgov.net on the following business day to report it as missed collection.
