The Voices of La Casa is a volunteer choral group that had its beginnings when La Casa first became a park. In 1978, under the direction of a retired music teacher, about 18 residents came together because of their love of singing. At that time , they rehearsed in a large open room in the club House, sharing space with the La Casa business office, a pool table ant one end, and one wall of library at the other end, using metal chairs and squeaky floor microphones! It was quite a thrill to move to the Big Stage in the Rec. Hall when it opened in 1984. Most fortunately during the past 35 years , there have been only 4 directors, today boasting 50 active members.
Every year the Chorus gives a free Holiday concert complete with Christmas Carols and Santa, and a Spring concert with varied themes, such as a circus or love songs from around the world or country rock and roll or familiar and nostalgic tunes, as it is felt “The Beat Goes On” ! The group also performs at La Casa Functions and nursing homes , including the Veterans Home with members of our Veterans of La Casa participating.
Often La Casa residents are asked to join us in skits, costumed portrayals, instrumental and dancing. Everyone involved , except for the accompanist , are resident volunteers which include the stage crew, narrator, ushers, greeters, program design, sound system, consume creation and props, and of course the dedicated lovely Voices and Director! Several have been members for over 25 years and presently there are 3 members 90 plus years young!
Having been enthusiastically supported by the residents of La Casa The Voices of La Casa have delighted in entertaining your for over 3 decades. Feel free to join us!
