Welcome New Residents, March, 2022

March 1, 2022 by Joan Bisson

David and Debra Butler; 232 Hibisco, 517-588-9243 are from Rapid City, Torch Lake, MI.  They previously owned a “hobby” farm having horses for their girls to ride.  Debra retired from teaching as a high school educator of Spanish and French.  Dave is recently retired as a utilities substation operator.  They enjoy boating and are looking forward to taking part in our various activities.  They found LaCasa by accident and immediately fell in love with the park.

Warren and Dawn Swindell, 658 La Sala, 774-279-2471 are from Framingham, MA and most recently Mont Vernon, NH.  They have 3 sons, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  They have been long-time friends with Charlie and Collette Welch, Paul Carney, and Pat and John Souza. All of them encouraged Warren and Dawn to come here.  They rented a place here in 2020 and knew this is what they wanted.  Dawn is a quilter and likes bowling.  Warren enjoys hockey; he was a youth hockey coach for  years.

Dave and Lucy Byrd, 653 LaSala, 813-215-9795 are from Maryville, TN.  Lucy is not yet retired, working part-time as a retail merchandiser.  Dave has been retired since 2001 as a police officer for Tampa.   Because Lucy is still working, they are not yet living here on a regular basis.  Their desire is to be here as full-timers and at that time become more active within the park.

Larry and Shirley Black, 459 Madre, 502-418-7823 are from Frankfort, KY.  Larry worked for 27 years with IBM then 14 years with Lexmart.  Shirley held various office jobs. Now, they both help out their son with his business.  Larry enjoys computers, model railroads, and grows day lilies.  Shirley likes to walk and being active.  They have rented within the park since 2018, coming here after visiting with Shirley’s sister, Barb Grostefon.

Jeff and Beth Sherman, 213 Vistoria, 303-847-9584 are from Winslow, ME.  Jeff is a retired pastor and Beth is a semi-retired nurse.  Finding the winters in Maine harsh, they decided to explore the meaning of “snowbirds”.  Jeff found their home using our website.  Both were taken up with the appearance of the park and all our amenities.  They have already discovered line and partner dancing, taking pickle ball lessons, and hopefully bocce.  Beth attends the morning pool exercises and has joined the quilting group.

Dan and Diane King, 711 Blanca, 419-367-7981 are from Oregon, OH. Dan retired after 30 years in building trades.  Diane worked as a quality administrative assistant. After spending several winters renting in the area, they decided to buy a place of their own. Dan enjoys fishing and has joined the veterans club.  Diane has joined the pottery classes and enjoys painting. They both like going to the beach and shelling.

Robert and Kathy Watters,  249 Vistoria, 330-325-9398 are from Rootstown, OH.  Kathy worked as an insurance agent in the same company for 53 years.  Bob retired as a lab manager in a plastics company.  They have 2 children and 3 great grandchildren.  Kathy does tole painting as a hobby.

John and Wanda Millett, 200 Hibisco, 603-702-0301 are from Sandown, NH.  Wanda, not yet retired, works from home as a bookkeeper.  John retired from the restaurant business.  They started their own restaurant as a simple hot dog stand and allowed it to grow into a large, well-known dining place with 7 separate dining rooms, seating over 300 people.  Their friends, Joe and Sandy Rollston, encouraged them to winter in Florida.  After looking at several places, La Casa was the place!
