Our Next Blood Drive is Friday, January 23, 2015

By this time, we have had a successful November Blood Drive with OneBlood. Our next drive will be in coordination with the La Casa Health Fair on Friday, January 23. Look for the Big Red Bus in the Rec Hall parking lot, and come donate blood to help others in our area. Prior to the event, check the bulletin boards for times when the bus will be here.

Blood is needed year round, so keep on giving. Blood can be donated every 56 days (112 days if you donate double red cells). Our blood drives are designed so you don’t have to worry about the last time you donated – we schedule the bus every two months to meet the 56 day requirement.

Haven’t donated in a while? Talk to the blood specialists on the bus, you may not have any restrictions to continue donating. Donation requirements change regularly, so don’t think you are ineligible until you check.

Mark Your Calendar — Blood Drive Wednesday Nov. 19, 2014

Don’t forget Wednesday November 19, 2014 is our next blood drive. OneBlood and their Big Red Bus will be in the Rec Hall parking lot starting at 8:00 AM.

Posters with details are located in the Rec Hall, the Club House, and in the main office hallway. A sign-up sheet is also available in the Rec Hall if you want to make an appointment for a specific time to donate.

Every blood donation can help up to three people. Please come to the bus if you haven’t donated before, or lately. The rules for donation eligibility change all the time, so don’t assume you can’t be a donor.

Our September blood drive was disappointing, with only four donations. We hope it was only the heavy rains that kept our donors away. Our thanks go out to those who donated.

Many people think they cannot donate blood, due to a medical condition or perhaps a prescription medication they take. You should stop by the Big Red Bus on our next drive, and discuss your medical condition or medications with the staff. You may be surprised to find you are an eligible donor. We need as many donors from the La Casa community as possible.

Speaking of our next blood drive, it is scheduled for Wednesday, November 19, 2014. Check the bulletin boards for the donation times – they can vary. Call Paul Reed at 941-240-1079 if you have any questions about our blood drive program.

La Casa Blood Drive Information

La Casa partners with OneBlood, one of southwest Florida’s blood centers, to provide blood to our local community.

La Casa blood drives are normally held in September, November, January and March. This provides our seasonal residents an opportunity to donate, and the bi-monthly schedule allows regular donations, because 56 days are required between each blood donation.
