Updates to the La Casa History Needed by May 1, 2016

February 1, 2016 by Tim Davis

You must be a registered La Casa home owner to view  this content

If you are a La Casa resident and have not registered with the site, do so Here. If you are registered, please log in to access all site content.

The website committee is working on an update to the “History of La Casa”. The printed version was issued in 2003 after extensive research by a dedicated committee of residents. It has been issued to new residents ever since, and has been a treasure trove of information for folks moving into La Casa. [Read more…]

The Dilemma of Personal Ads

December 7, 2015 by Tim Davis

The website committee has been asked from time to time about allowing residents to place personal ads.

We have discussed this issue at length, and it would be very difficult to manage any personal ads. Keeping them current, adding and deleting, copywriting the content to make it accurate, all take a lot of time and effort by a very small group of volunteers. In addition, WordPress doesn’t have good capability to automate any of this, so it all has to be done manually.

We appreciate the interest in having new content on our community website, but ads will not be offered for the foreseeable future.

Events and Notices Channel — Did You Know?

November 21, 2015 by Tim Davis

You may or may not be aware of our Events and Notices Channel, available here, that provides clubs and events a place to publicize their activities.

What you may not know is you have the option to sit and watch all the slides, the same way Comcast 195 operates, OR you can:

  • click on the slide with your mouse and quickly advance to the next slide, OR
  • go to the pull-down menu at the bottom of the slide screen where you will see a slide number, click on it, and you will see a list of all the slides. You can then pick and choose which ones to view.

What does this mean for our users? It’s a lot easier to find an event notice without having to sit and look at all the slides. You can control what you want to look at, and how you look at it.

What does this mean for our clubs and events? If you aren’t posting on the Events and Notices channel here at lacasaroc.com, maybe you should.

If you haven’t taken a look at our Events and Notices Channel, we suggest you may want to. Particularly since Comcast 195 may be going away soon.

We Have Added Some FAQs — Take a Look

November 3, 2015 by Tim Davis

From time to time, we receive questions from residents about our website, community activities, or other questions that lend themselves to being a good FAQ.

We have a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page that can be accessed from a tab at the top of the home page.

Our website committee will add questions and answers from time to time, but if you have a question you can post it in the comment section below. If it’s a question that benefits  our community, we will add it to the page.

A direct link to the page is here.

Where Did All The Writers Go?

September 5, 2015 by Tim Davis

A while back, at the request of members of the Writers’ Club, we set up a Creative Writing page. Any resident can send us fiction, non-fiction, poetry, almost anything that suits their whimsy (subject to site Terms and Conditions of course). There is a link on the right side of the home page, or you can click here.

The Creative Writing page is indexed to put content in its proper genre, based on information supplied by the writer. We can also add media such as photos or even video links.

Off the top of my head, I think we have had one submission to the page since we put it on-line.

Where have all the writers gone? Gone up north you say?

I would ask, does writing ability fall off with lower temperatures? Perhaps there is a good research project for a grad student somewhere.

Where Do I Find the Latest Comments?

August 3, 2015 by Tim Davis

Some members have been looking at pages on the site, and when they get to the bottom, they see a comment from over a year ago.

So, the question came up, where are the newer comments people are leaving on the site? What’s the easiest way to find them?

I will answer those questions in reverse order:

— The easiest way to find the latest comments left on the site is on our home page. They are in the right hand column, and show the most recent comments left on any post or page. If you click on the comment, you will be taken to the post or page where the comment was made.

— On the pages or posts themselves, the comments are stacked at the bottom in chronological order. That is a WordPress thing, and we can’t change the order. So, you simply have to page down with your mouse, and you will see the newer comments at the bottom of the list. If WordPress ever gives us the option, we will probably switch the comments around so the newest are at the top, but no can do for now.

We hope this clears up any confusion about the order of comments left on the site.

We Have Added a FAQ Page on the Website

April 16, 2015 by Tim Davis

We see recurring questions about our website and the HOA. In addition, we are adding Computer Club content from their website, and they had some FAQs there that needed a home.

So, we have added a FAQ button at the top of the home page, next to the Park Manager button. We will add FAQs as the questions are brought to our attention.

We won’t be able to answer every question there, but if the answers help the majority of our readers, we will add them to the list. You will see that we have created categories to help you find answers to your questions.

Check the FAQ button from time to time, and see what’s been added. Enjoy!
